The dictionary defines fear as an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or danger. Along with these ideas go many physiological hormonal processes that could influence your health long-term. If you are having headaches, anxiety, digestive problems, and sleeplessness worrying about Covid 19, the election, paying rent, bills, getting the kids back in school, getting back to work, and on and on, please read on.
According to a University of Minnesota article, living under constant threat has severe health effects. Fear weakens the immune system and can result in cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal problems such as intestinal ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome, and decreased fertility. Long term stress can even lead to rapid aging and premature death. I ask myself why I’d put my whole life on hold and remain in quarantine for 5 weeks to prevent a possibly deadly infection whilst actively generating life threatening hormonal changes in my physique.
The opposite of fear is hope, or calmness. No matter how hard I want to concentrate on comfort or calmness, I have come to realize that I’m wasting this quarantine time if I do not work hard to fight the strain. According to the Huff Post God actually commands us to not worry or fear at least 80 times in the bible.
Vedeli ste to?
Apparently, tension and fear has existed for quite a long time. Along with the stress factors are the issues of Netflix and chill. Sitting for extended periods is also associated with heart disease and diabetes. It can be as harmful as Covid itself! I know that in my home if I’m nervous, so is my husband and importantly, our small dog. She hunkers under me and watches films also. So, after the first couple of lockdown where we’d agreed to binge on a couple of our favorite shows with 5 seasons TWICE, we knew that some type of mental / emotional illness would put into us if we did not agree on strategies of exercising or meditating together daily together with actions that we do at particular times to indicate the days.
This is truly a tough time in life, is not it? I can not tell anyone else what to do with their time, but I have been a coach for a number of years I understand that closed – in TV watching for weeks is not great for anybody! Here are my ideas. To begin with, if the weather and area allow it, walking every day is the best thing you could do. If you are infirm, 5 minutes a day is a fantastic place to start. If you are young and healthy, now’s a fantastic time to set goals for some kind of contest in the future.
I’m old, but I’m thinking of a career in corn hole and pickle ball when this damned thing is finished. I didn’t even know that I missed sports contest until now. I’m an active QiGong practitioner that’s what brings me down to a relaxed place after walking. I post a whole lot of videos, and I suggest visiting YouTube for many apps. I love Mimi Kuo Deemer’s (click on ) lectures and courses. She’s for real! There’s an 8 movement routine called BaDuanJin that can be shown on YouTube, and it’s an exceptional daily practice.
Actually, if you should become interested in QiGong, there are countless credible movies to learn from. I chose QiGong because I’m jumpy and busy and at the beginning, sitting quietly while my head was crying did not work for me. After practicing the moves while meditating, I have a simpler time practicing a sitting meditation. Taking a minute away from our ongoing stressful situation is crucial. You’ve got to take the time to do something, anything to prevent the stress hormones from increasing your blood pressure.
Your choice of music on headphones, waterfall or ocean sounds, or listening to relaxing music on your car are a few things to do. A hot bath, a nap, a sit in the backyard, or anything to clean your mind for even 5 minutes a day will block the stress hormone overload and give you a moment to rest your mind. If you are out of work and freaking out, I send positive thoughts and prayers. I get mad when I see politicians going home for a vacation while no unemployment decisions are made. They’ve left for a four day weekend? They’ve no idea that a hungry hard working individual is checking the mailbox twice a day “just in case” anyway.
This is why I recommend that you change the station to humorous pets for an hour or two. The less time you concentrate on the news, the better. Whatever you are doing, know that you are not alone here. If you need assistance with food, inquire. If you will need a higher credit card limit, ask. You may be surprised what some businesses are doing for people. There are great people out there that do understand the predicament that Americans have found themselves . The opposite of fear is interest, or trust, or guts or calmness. Spend some time talking to those who you trust, satisfy your curiosity by taking a free course online, go outside and breathe! Maybe I’ll see you on the pickleball court. This nightmare WILL end.
