It can be difficult to determine which type of headache someone is experiencing. There are five types of headaches: tension headache, cluster headache, rebound tension headache, sinus headache and tension headache. However, not one sign of a sinus infection was observed in any of these patients. This is consistent with the criteria for migraine. About 2/3rd of the victims expressed dissatisfaction with the medication they were prescribed.

  • Tension headache is the most common type of headache. This is when you feel constant pressure or ache around the head, especially at the temples and back of your neck. It isn’t as severe as migraines headaches, it doesn’t usually cause nausea or vomiting, and it doesn’t interfere with your normal activities. Experts believe this could be due to the contractions of the scalp muscles and neck, and possibly alteration in brain chemicals.
  • Cluster headaches, which are more common in men than women, is the next type of headache. These headaches can occur in groups or in cycles and are more common in men. These headaches are sudden and can be incapacitating and severe. They usually occur on one side of the head. It is often accompanied by nasal congestion, watery eyes, and a running nose. This headache can make you feel restless and uncomfortable. It is not yet known what causes cluster headaches. Although there is no cure, treatments can reduce the frequency and duration of cluster headaches.
  • Sinus headache is the third type. Sinus headaches are caused by inflammation of the sinuses, usually from an infection. It is usually associated with a fever. If necessary, MRI or CT scans can be used to diagnose the problem. This type of headache is usually caused by sinus problems and can be treated with antibiotics, decongestants, or antihistamines.
  • Migraine headache is the fourth. This is caused by a neurological disorder that could run in your family. This is the most severe headache anyone could have. Migraines can cause paralysis for several days or even weeks. It means that migraine sufferers experience a period of non productivity due to intense pain and sensitivity to light. This is called rebound headache.
