Enigma Update #1 - Nov & Dec 2017, Big 2018 Plans!

00:00 Hello to the community and welcome to the very first video update for the enigma projects.
00:11 My name is Tor, I'm the head of marketing and growth for enigma.
00:14 If you're not familiar with the enigma project, what we're doing is building a privacy protocol through the use of secret contracts which are private smart contracts and that's going to allow us to create truly decentralized applications.
00:28 One of the biggest issues with blockchains right now is any data you try to keep on the blockchain is completely exposed, and also it's very computationally expensive, it's too difficult to keep data on the blockchain.
00:39 That's what our privacy protocol intends to solve.
00:44 This is a huge idea, it's very ambitious, we just wrote a blog post that outlines some of the many applications for the protocol, and how this could completely reshape multi-billion dollar industries and unlock billions of dollars of value.
00:58 In this video, we're gonna talk a little bit about what we were already able to accomplish in 2017, and what's coming in 2018, and what that's going to mean for our team, our community, our partners and our protocol.
01:09 We're really excited to share some of this with you, so please keep watching and thanks for the time.
01:15 One of our biggest priorities coming into the end of the year was to be able to tell our story in person.
01:22 So we went down to DEFCON at the start of November where our CEO guy gave a talk about our privacy protocol and decentralized data marketplaces.
01:30 It was a pretty popular talk, we packed the room, afterwards tons of people were coming up asking questions about the protocol, the potential to work together, it was really an amazing experience.
01:40 We've also been to token summit in San Francisco, we spend time speaking about the project in Israel at the calculus Fintech conference, and we also attended a number of in-person meetups including in Chicago.
01:53 Meanwhile we kept up our rate of research and development on the protocol level as well as at the application level.
02:01 Enigma catalyst is our very first application to run on the enigma protocol, a data-driven investment platform for crypto.
02:07 And we moved through a number of major releases this year, culminating in catalyst 0.4, which added major functionality, such as support for dozens of new exchanges as well as the introduction of paper trading which allows traders to test strategies without putting their own capital at risk.
02:23 In addition to the development work, we entered into a number of amazing partnerships with great companies and projects, including Aion at the protocol level to bring our secret contracts to every blockchain.
02:34 We also partnered with a number of projects at the catalyst level to expand crypto asset trading and adoption, like kyber network, ether delta and invest feed.
02:42 So what is this going to mean for enigma in 2018?
02:48 Well, we're really excited because the enigma protocol is gonna go live in 2018, we're gonna keep building out the protocol, we're going to keep building partnerships that are going to allow us to expand the privacy protocol, build new applications on top of it.
02:59 At the catalyst level, we're gonna keep up our rapid pace of development, we're gonna scale our data marketplace, add new data sources, scale our user base, it's gonna be a really exciting year for both the protocol and the application, we have a lot of big things planned.
03:13 We're gonna keep up the pace of marketing, we're gonna increase awareness of the project, help people understand why a privacy protocol is so critical and what it's going to enable in the space.
03:21 We're going to keep up hiring at a very rapid pace, we want to expand our team, we want to expand globally, we want to build out our communities like telegram and discord and our reddit as well.
03:32 We have a reddit ask me anything coming up, that's going to be Thursday December 21st at 9:00 a.m.
03:38 Pacific.
03:38 We're gonna go into the thread, we're gonna answer all the most uploaded questions, we're gonna answer your questions about the project, the team, our direction for 2018.
03:45 We're really excited to be able to engage with the community through all these different channels, we really want to grow it into 2018, we're gonna be expanding more in Asia as well, reaching Chinese communities and Korean communities and Japanese communities, it's a really important thing for us to be a global project and to really explain to a global audience why a privacy protocol is necessary for scaling blockchain adoption.
04:08 I'm really grateful that you watched all this way through the video, we're really excited to continue our work and our progress into 2018.
04:13 If you have any more questions about the project, join one of our community channels, check out our website and blog, all the information is right below this video.
04:22 Please click through some of those links, get in touch with the team, we're really open with the community and happy to answer your questions.

02:51 The ENG tokens are used to reward creation by and for the community, such as trading strategies and data sources, and they are consumed when community members access premium services on the platform.
03:03 Right now, there are two main token dynamics.
03:05 Primary one, ENG is used to access data sources on the decentralized attainment catalyst data marketplace, payment design subscription levels.

05:19 Second, catalyst is targeting professional traders and funds, so the cryptocurrency cannot emerge as a legitimate investment at that class there will be limited demand for catalyst products.
05:30 So what do we recommend?
05:34 Overall we at crush crypto like this ICO, both for slipping as well to long term potential.
05:38 The decentralized approach taken by the team is very interesting, and it should increase the chance to succeed as a platform can attract the best data sources.
05:47 The tokens could be good for flipping as the project has received a lot of press coverage, which has been generating a lot of buzz.
05:53 The improve market conditions should help catalyst reaches hard cap with minimal issues.
05:57 It also has outside potential as a long-term investment.
06:02 The financial data industry is large, and the crypto subset is just getting started.
06:06 With a strong team and awareness of the project, we believe catalyst has a good chance to succeed.
