What is pink eye? Pink eye, also known as conjunctivitis or pink eye, refers to inflammation of the conjunctiva. This clear membrane covers the outer layer and inner surface of the eyes. Conjunctivitis, like other eye inflammations, often looks and feels worse than what it really is. Conjunctivitis rarely causes permanent visual damage.

    Pink Eye

Although the redness can be alarming, it is not a serious condition. Pink eye should be diagnosed early to avoid complications and tissue damage. What are the symptoms of conjunctivitis? Pinkeye can be caused by infections such as viruses or bacteria, allergies, and certain irritants that come in contact with the eyes.

There are many types of conjunctivitis, each with its own symptoms. Infections usually start in one eye, but can spread quickly to the other if there is a viral or bacterial conjunctivitis. Avoid sharing towels, pillows, and washcloths with others, especially with conjunctivitis, or other viral or bacterial conditions like cold sores. Wash your bedding and change your pillowcases often.

    Prevention

To prevent infection and promote faster healing, use immune system boosters. You should not touch your eyes, no matter how much you might want to. For quick relief if your eyes are itchy, you can use a compress to soothe the discomfort. Before and after touching your eyes, wash your hands thoroughly. If you develop conjunctivitis after a cold sore, you should seek medical attention.

Herpes simplex-related conjunctivitis can be serious. Conjunctivitis makeup that you used should be thrown out. It can be spread easily by using makeup from the time you had it. Contact lenses should be removed until your eyes are completely healed. Sunlight can cause pink eye irritation so wear sunglasses outdoors.

    Take Note

    • Colloidal Silver — You may purchase colloidal silver in spray bottles. Spray your eyes with colloidal silver two to three times daily. If you don’t have a spray bottle, you can also use one to two drops of colloidal sodium in your eyes twice or three times per day. It has been proven that colloidal silver can cure pink eye in as little as six hours. To be safe, wait a few days before using.
    • Castor Oil — Apply one to two drops to your eyes twice daily. You will notice a difference in your eyes within a day. However, you should continue to use it for several more days to ensure it is gone completely. The oil will cause your eyes to become blurry, but it won’t sting or hurt. It can actually be soothing. Castor oil is a natural antimicrobal and can be used to heal.
    • Sea Salt — Add one teaspoon of sea salt to one cup of warm water and stir until it dissolves. You can either use an eyedropper to put two to three drops from the saline solution directly into your eye, or you can use a cottonball. Place the cotton ball on your eye. Let the water run through your eye. This is an old remedy that has been tried for years and is still very popular in England.
